James David Landry, 66, of Lake Charles, Louisiana, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, March 16, 2026.

James was born on May 18, 1959, in Lake Charles to Hulen and Lorraine Wallace Landry. A lifelong resident of the area, he graduated from Lake Charles High School in 1978 and went on to serve his country honorably for two years in the United States Army.

Throughout his life, James was known for his strong work ethic and dedication. He worked as a carpenter and later as a dump truck driver for the City of Lake Charles Maintenance Department. More than anything, he will be remembered for his willingness to serve others, always ready to lend a helping hand with a joyful spirit.

James found his greatest happiness in the simple moments, spending time with his family, enjoying country music, and singing karaoke. His warm personality and easy smile made him a joy to be around, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish his memory are, his mother, Lorraine Landry; his daughter, Jayme Landry; his son, Johnathan Landry and wife Macie; and his grandchildren, Gavin, Kaylee, Brooklyn, and Johnathan. He is also survived by his brothers, Robert Landry and Greg Landry; his sister, Jeannie Landry; and many nieces and nephews. James was preceded in death by his father, Hulen Landry.

Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. A memorial gathering will be held at a later date.
