JAMES ALLEN NEWMAN SET HIS EYES ON THE BIGGEST FISHING HOLE BEYOND THE CLOUDS AND SIGNED OFF ON LIFE JULY 26, 2020 at the age of 59 AND ENTERED HEAVEN, WHERE HE WILL HAVE NO MORE PAIN. HIS TIRES WERE WORN AND HIS BODY WAS CRUMBLING AND HE WAS READY TO MEET HIS MAKER.
But his legacy will live on. And this is his story
James was born on June 12, 1961 in Church Point, LA, the only son to Mervin Paul and Barbara Stone Newman. He grew up in Sulphur, LA and graduated from Sulphur High School in 1979.
James worked at Frasch Golf Course for 27 years and later for Bayou Oaks Golf Course in Carlyss, LA. He then landed a job as a Maintenance Supervisor for L’auberge Du Lac Casino and continued his employment until he became ill.
James loved God and was Baptized at Hayes Baptist Church and dedicated his life to the Lord. He loved his family, fishing, and Cajun music. He loved his mom and his wife, Erica of 13 years, his children, step-children and grandchildren. He never met a stranger. Friends and family would often say “he would give you the shirt off of his back”. He loved the outdoors and you would very seldom find him inside. He loved his garden and he was so proud of it, and you couldn’t leave until you walked out back and he showed you everything he had planted; And then you were there another 2 hours.
Those he left behind to cherish his memory are his mother, Barbara Newman of Sulphur, his wife, Erica Newman of Sulphur, his son Bradley Newman of Tyler, TX, his daughter Kandace Newman (Nick) of Iowa, LA, his two step-children, John Brattain (Lauren) of Sulphur, LA and his fishing buddy, Devin Roya of Sulphur, LA. He had 3 grandchildren, Brooks Newman, Hayden Brattain and Addison Moore.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Mary Stone and his father Mervin Paul Newman.
Rev 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain. For the former things are passed away.
Gathering of friends and family will begin on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 from 3 p.m. until 4 p.m. A Memorial service will begin at 4 p.m. with Pastor Gil Broussard officiating in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa. Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of IOwa.
