James A. Talbot

James A. Talbot, born in Manchester on November 22, 1939, son of the late Alcess and Catherine Beatrice (Fontenot) Talbot, passed away Monday, October 7, 2024, at age eighty-four.

James, a graduate of Iowa High School, was of the Catholic faith and a member of the Knights of Columbus, #3006. He attended Barber College, worked for McDermot Industries in Dubai, Maritime Industrial Service and Hunt Oil.

He enjoyed playing and watching tennis and baseball, as well as football. LSU and the New Orlean Saints were his favorite football teams.

He is preceded in death by his parents; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Denise Ardoin Talbot, and sister Carolyn Buller.

James is survived by his wife of sixty-five years, Dean (Benoit) Talbot; children, Dina Talbot Matt (Marvin), and Kevin Talbot (Lisa); siblings, Rod Talbot (Eunice Rae), Penny Dugas (George), Cecil Talbot (Brenda), Bennett Talbot (Kim), Tommy Talbot (Gay), and Bobby Talbot (Cindy); grandchildren, Sarah Talbot Standford (Blake), Laura Talbot (Jeremy Lowery), Matthew Talbot, Zachary Talbot (Miranda), Mallory Begnaud (Jordan), Kaleb Talbot (Mary Grace), Melise McKeivier, and Garrett Matt (Connie); thirteen great-grandchildren, with one on the way.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held in St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Lacassine on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at 11 a.m. Rev. Jom Joseph, Celebrant. Burial will follow in Lacassine Cemetery under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa. Visitation begins Friday in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., with a rosary recited at 6:30 p.m. and will resume Saturday from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.
