James Mark Treme

James Mark Treme, 71, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2026. He was born on January 25, 1955, in Sulphur, Louisiana, to Joann Koonce and Gerald Winston Treme.

Mark was a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend whose greatest joy in life was his family. He was deeply involved in his children's lives, coaching their baseball and basketball teams and often rearranging his work schedule so he could attend as many family events and sporting activities as possible. He loved to travel—especially taking cruises—and during their 48 years of marriage, he and his beloved wife, Mary Anne, shared countless adventures exploring the world together. Above all, Mark treasured spending time with his family and friends. Those who knew him best understood that one of his favorite ways of showing affection was by playfully teasing the people he loved.

Mark dedicated 30 years of his career to the railroad industry. In retirement, he enjoyed golfing with his good friend, Pat, and spending time outdoors tending to his vegetable gardens. He also loved cooking and was especially known for his delicious meatballs and rice dressing, meals that family and friends always looked forward to. A lifelong, devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Mark rarely missed cheering on his favorite team.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 48 years, Mary Anne Treme; his son, Christopher James Treme and wife, May; his daughter, Annette Leah Treme; his siblings, Rebecca "Becky" Williamson and husband, Dennis, Neal Treme and wife, Leanne, Anthony Treme, and Timothy Treme and wife, Lynn; along with numerous beloved nieces and nephews as well as his beloved dog Lola B.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Joann Koonce and Gerald Winston Treme.

A funeral service will be held at Johnson Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8, 2026. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m.

Mark will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his generous heart, his sense of humor, and the many memories he created with those fortunate enough to know him. His legacy of love, laughter, and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
