Jane Trahan Reed

December 16, 1937 — May 30, 2025

Jane Trahan Reed, 87, of Fenton, passed away peacefully at a hospital on Friday, May 30, 2025, with her daughters by her side. She was born on December 16, 1937, in Iowa, the daughter of the late Sidney and Nola Marie Fontenot Trahan.

A devoted homemaker, Jane found great joy in caring for her children and grandchildren. She especially enjoyed baking, playing bingo, and making visits to the casino. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life; she was a proud member of the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Ladies Altar Society and participated in the Wednesday Rosary group. Jane was also a very proud cancer survivor, demonstrating resilience and grace throughout her journey.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Reed; her son, Richard “Ricky” Reed; her parents; her brothers, Roger Trahan, and Norman Trahan; her sister, Elma Johnson; and her great-grandchild, Kaden Reed.

Jane’s memory will be cherished by those she leaves behind: her children, Belinda Guintard and husband Charles “Chuck,” Lisa Cunningham and husband Mark, Karen Myers and husband Terry, Kirk Reed and wife Kayla, and Mark Reed; her brother, Jimmy Trahan; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Fenton. Burial will follow in Hebert Cemetery under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa.

Visitation will be held at Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa on Wednesday, June 4, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a rosary at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will resume on Thursday from 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported Jane throughout her life and during her final days—especially the doctors and nursing staff at Lafayette General Hospital.
