Janet Elizabeth Lewis

Janet Elizabeth Lewis, 64, of Lake Charles passed away at 4:15 PM on Sunday, November 12, 2017 in a local hospital.

 

Ms. Lewis was born on March 9, 1953 in Lake Charles where she resided all of her life. She was a graduate of Washington High School and attended Sowela Technical College and McNeese State University. Ms. Lewis retired from the state of Louisiana as a Medicaid analyst after more than 30 years. She was a member of Mill Street Church of Christ.

 

She will be remembered for her warm spirit that enjoyed life and laughter. She especially enjoyed spending time with her children and family.

 

Those left to cherish her memory are four children, Lucretia Rogers of Lake Charles, Joshua Moreaux, Jr. of Boston, MA, Kendria D. Guice (Jeremy) of Lake Charles, and Natalie Lewis of Lake Charles; five siblings, Jackie Phillips (LeRoy) of Georgia, Leon Lavergne of Lake Charles, Rosalind Mitchell of Houston, Michelle Metoyer of Lake Charles, and Michael Reed of Georgia; six grandchildren, Jon Rogers, Ayanna Rogers, Carson Guice, Chantz Hunter, and Kayleigh and Kyleigh Guice.

 

She was preceded in death by a son, Kendrick Lavergne; parents, Nathalie and Wilbur Lavergne, Sr.; and siblings, Wilbur Lavergne, Jr., Gerard Lavergne, and Charlene Jackson.

 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Mill Street Church of Christ. Pastor Courtney Jones will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at the church at 1:00 PM and continue until the start of the service.
