Janet Fontenot, born in Lake Charles on January 24, 1950, daughter of the late Theo and Julia LeBleu Fontenot, passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at the age of seventy-five.
Janet worked for Wal-Mart and was also a truck driver for many years. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and spending time with family.
Janet is survived by her children, John Chesson, Jr. (Nikki), Brenda Billings (Jeff), Allen Trahan (Lisa); sisters, Judy Mott (Buddy), Joann Miller (Malcolm), Joyce Lisotta (Tommy); brothers, John Fontenot, Larry Fontenot (Kathy); ten grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Chesson, Sr.; son, Marshall Chesson.
Funeral services will be held in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at 11 a.m. Bro. Greg “Boo” Miller, Celebrant. Burial will follow in LeBleu Cemetery under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa. Visitation begins on Monday in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., with a rosary recited at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will resume Tuesday in the funeral home from 8 a.m. until the time of service.
