Janlyn Arleen “Jan” Bowdoin Hoffpauir, 87, of Sulphur, passed away Saturday May 30, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 22, 1938, to Artie and Nan Bowdoin and lived her entire life in Sulphur.
She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She worked at Calcasieu Marine Bank for many years and later opened a local monogram shop, Jan’s Monograms. She was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Vinton. She was active in the Sulphur High School class of 1957 reunions and took great pride in hosting the “Class of 1957 Girls Christmas Party” every year. She was an excellent cook, and her “funeral cake” was well known in the community. She and her late husband, Louis Wayne “Hawkeye,” enjoyed traveling in their early retirement days. She never met a stranger and had the ability to make everyone around her smile and laugh. She loved spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren, taking them fishing, teaching them how to cook and sew, and picking blueberries.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Holly Hoffpauir (Charlie Henry); her stepchildren, Danny (Karen) Hoffpauir, Nancy (Steve) Brown, and Julie (Gary) Slaven; her grandchildren, Lauren Andrepont, Katie Andrepont, and Jacob Andrepont, one nephew, Kevin Bowdoin, and numerous step grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Wayne “Hawkeye” Hoffpauir; her parents, Artie and Nan Bowdoin; and her brother, Kipling Bowdoin.
The family extends a special thank you to Harbor Hospice of Lake Charles for the exceptional care provided over the last few weeks, as well as to Wendy Funk-Fontenot and Kim Homsi for their care of her as well.
