Jarod “Pudge” Roy, 40, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on June 23, 2023.
He was born on August 24, 1982 in Lake Charles, LA to Roger and Sarah Youngblood Roy. He was a fireman before he could drive and was a policeman with the Westlake Police Department when he was 18 years old. He loved local and national politics and was active in several political campaigns. He had an infectious smile and will be remembered as a very generous and dependable friend who could be called on to help with anything from carpentry to computers.
Jarod is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Jamie Roy; children, Madison Roy and Brady Roy; mother, Sarah Youngblood Roy; sister, Kayla Roy; aunts, Patsy Roy, Barbara R. Woods (Charles), Bonnie Manning (Keith); uncle, Glenn Peterson (Sherry); and cousins, Elizabeth Latiolais, Chas Latiolais, Mitchell Latiolais, Matthew Woods, and Christopher Woods.
He was preceded in death by his father, Roger Roy; brother, Jeremy Craig Roy; maternal grandparents, Peyton and Evon C. Youngblood; paternal grandparents, Martin J. and Geraldine Roy; and cousin, Brian Keith Latiolais.
A Funeral Mass will take place at St. John Bosco Catholic Church on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at 11 a.m. Rev. Mike Barras will officiate. Visitation will be held at the church from 9 a.m. until the start of the service. A celebration of life gathering will be held at the Freedom Hall at Pinederosa Park in Westlake, LA following the Mass. A private burial will take place at a later date.
