Iowa - Jarrod Heath Cormier, born on December 16, 1974, son of Larry Lynn Cormier (Cyndi) and Sharon Galley Meyer (Steve) of Iowa, passed away Saturday, January 7, 2023, at the age of 48.
Jarrod was Catholic by faith, was a graduate of Lacassine High School and Sowela Community College. Jarrod loved LSU sports, loved spending time with his son, and was the life of the party. Jarrod was one of a kind, a very giving person, and genuinely loved his godchildren and helping anyone in need.
Jarrod is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Pierre Joseph Galley; paternal grandmother, Elvie Josephine H. Cormier Vidrine.
He is survived by his father, Larry Cormier (Cyndi) of Monroe, LA.; mother, Sharon Galley Meyer (Steve) of Iowa; son, Slaydon Gage Cormier, siblings, Jamie Cormier (Cammy); Jennifer Cormier Levy (Jason), Joni Cormier (Connor Grant); Josephine Cormier; Tara Meyer, and Gisele Weber (Mike); mother of his son and love of his life, Kerri Miller Walker and her daughters, Sydni and Adisyn Walker; grandmother, Dorothy Granger Galley; nieces and godchildren, Brooklyn Levy (Justin Simon), Courtney Cormier Bagwell (Christian); nephew, Connor Cormier; godchild, Alexis Bebee Ardoin (Wyatt); numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends; beloved dog, Coco.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held in St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at 1 p.m. Rev. Jom Joseph, Celebrant. Burial will follow in Lacassine Cemetery under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa. Visitation is in the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. A rosary will be recited at 12 p.m. Pallbearers assisting in his service are Ryan Miller, Christopher Galley, Jason Janssen, Sherman Broussard, Brad Bebee, Scott Haggart. Honorary are Scott Miller, Chris Gotreaux, Mark Verrett, Eddie Gary, Gentry Hebert, and Christian Bagwell.
