J.B. Carter

J.B. Carter, 90, of Lake Charles went to be with his Lord and Savior on December 02, 2017.

 

Mr. Carter was born in Church Point, Louisiana to Norris and Mathilda Mayfield Carter on April 27, 1927. He has lived most of his life in Lake Charles. He began his successful career in paint and body as a young man, having worked for Watts-Pumpelly Volkswagen, Cagle Chevrolet and Shetler Lincoln Mercury. Mr. Carter always ran a sideline business at home and in the early 1970’s opened Carter’s Paint and Body. He took great pride in his word and good work and stood behind it and worked until the day the Lord called him home. He was a proud member of Cornerstone Masonic Lodge #229 for sixty-five years. He was also a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church for over seventy years and Sacred Heart Catholic Church of which he began attending when courting his “Ella Mae”. He enjoyed meeting with friends for coffee. Mr. Carter was an admirable man of his generation; honest, hardworking and wise with an overwhelming love of his family and devotion to friends.

 

He leaves to honor his memory, nine children, (Ret.) Judge Wilford Carter, Eddie Carter (Elizabeth), Shirley Dejean, Alice Zachary (Andrew), D.W. Carter (Willie), Nancy Carter, Rev. Joshua Hanchett (Sherry), Mark Carter and David Carter (Tamika); forty-three grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; great-great grandchildren; one brother, John Carter (Mary); one sister, Dorothy Carter Malbroux and dear friends, Robert Poochie, Calvin Lubin and James Bernard.

 

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of fifty-one years, Arine “Ella Mae” Victorian Carter; two sons, Joseph Ben Carter and Larry Carter; grandson, John Carter; three brothers, Alfred Carter, Delton Carter and Abron Carter and two sisters, Amelia Carter Jason and Anna Carter.

 

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, December 09, 2017 at Mount Calvary Baptist Church under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Rev. Elmer Garner will officiate. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Catholic Church Cemetery. Visitation Saturday will be from 8:30 AM until the time of service in the church. A Masonic Funeral ceremony will begin the service.
