Jean Simpson, 83, of Huntsville, passed away Tuesday, October 28, 2025, with her devoted husband, James and some family by her side. Born on March 13, 1942, in Pasadena, Texas and raised in Weatherford. She lived in Texas until 1970, then on to Lake Charles, Louisiana where they raised their family of seven children. She was a long-standing member of First Baptist Church, where she was a vital part of many programs, taught youth and sang in the choir. Her home was filled with neighborhood kids and more. There was never a dull or quiet moment, and she embraced it.
In 2013, she relocated with her husband to Huntsville Alabama, where they became members of Farley Community Church. She taught VBS and participated in the backpack ministry. She loved attending Sunday school and church services. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she had a passion for service and loved working with children, especially VBS. She often served as the school class mom, where she might be seen dressing up as a character, out playing with the children or even helping teenagers toilet paper rolling of houses.
She was strong and determined, endless amount of energy, driven by purpose. She never shied away from a challenge. To know her was to enjoy her kindness, silliness and her great sense of humor. She was a shining light to whoever knew her. Her hobbies included knitting, working in the yard and reading. She loved doing arts and crafts, playing games, especially spades and dominos. She loved the holidays and spending time with family. She was infamous for her cornbread dressing and family would often argue over who got the last scoop.
We know she has found peace in the arms of her Heavenly Father. She is free from worry, suffering, and surrounded by everlasting love. She will be greatly missed.
