Jeff George

Jeff George, 70 of Sulphur, La., passed away peacefully on August 29, 2025, surrounded by his family.

Jeff was born and raised in Sulphur, La., graduating from Sulphur High School in 1973. He worked in his father’s grocery store daily after school. After graduating he attended a trade school in Texas studying mechanics. He then went to work offshore in the oil field for Pennzoil and then Shell Oil Company. After spending 10 years in the oil field, he transferred to a land-based job at Louisiana Pigment Company south of Sulphur, where he worked for 30 years before retiring in 2021. During his career at Louisiana Pigment, he worked his way up from operator to unit superintendent before retiring.

Jeff enjoyed hunting and fishing, and he would get away to his Toledo Bend Camp for some outdoor relaxation every time he got the chance.

Jeff is survived by his wife of 31 years, Marilyn Abshire George; daughter Tasha Doucet (Jimmy) of Ragley, and Brandon Fisher (Sydney) of Sulphur; grandchildren, Austin, Emma and Aiden Fisher, and Aubrey and Sophia Samaniego; brothers, David George and Jim George of Sulphur, La. He is preceded in death by his parents, Sam K. George and Hazel David George, and brother Hal Brent George.

Funeral services for Jeff will be at 10:00 AM, Thursday, September 4, 2025, at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Carlyss, Father Ron Foshage, M.S. will officiate.   Visitation will be 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at Johnson Funeral Home of Sulphur, La., with a recitation of the Rosary at 6:30 PM. Visitation will resume at 8:00 AM Thursday, September 4, 2025, at Johnson Funeral Home until we depart for the church.
