Jefferd Leger

Jefferd Leger, 83, died on January 6, 2017, at his residence.

One of twelve children born to Joseph and Idell Dickerson Leger, Mr. Leger was a lifelong resident of Lake Charles and attended Marion High School. He served his country in the U. S. Navy. He worked as a carpenter for R. D. Hyatt Construction Company and later F. Miller and Sons, retiring in 1998. He enjoyed shrimping, boating, traveling and life on the river.

He is survived by his faithful wife of 61 years, Selma Paxson Leger; one son, Jeffrey Leger and Nancy of Moss Bluff; two daughters, Darleen Hutto and husband David and Sandy Sanders and husband Rick, also of Moss Bluff; nine grandchildren, Kristi Thompson, Lacy Sanders, Sarah Jensen, Andrea Richard, Andrea Fontenot, Jacob Leger, Travis Miller, Alicia Talley and Kaylin Miller; ten great grandchildren; and two sisters, Anna Eyvonne Phillips and husband Allen of Moss Bluff and Lucille Leger of Lake Charles.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday January 9, 2017 at Johnson Funeral Home. Rev. Jared Pugh will officiate. Interment will follow at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday from 5 until 8 p.m. and will resume on Monday from 8 a.m. until service time.
