Jerome "Jerry" Woodrow Mouton

November 5, 1939 — February 20, 2017

Jerome “Jerry” Woodrow Mouton, 77, of Lake Charles, died Monday February 20, 2017 at a local hospital surrounded by his family.

 

Jerry was a native of Breaux Bridge and longtime resident of Lake Charles. He had a true passion for music and for over forty years shared his love of music by teaching countless youth during his tenure at J.I. Watson Elementary School. He played for Uncle Remus and later Louisiana Express for numerous years. He also played bass guitar for Christian World for a number of years.

 

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford P. (Sr.) and Rose Degeyter Mouton; a sister, Suzanne Riggio; and a grandson, Nicholas Fugatt. He leaves behind his beloved wife of thirty years, Carolyn Hyatt Mouton; three daughters, Pat Fugatt (Ken), Lake Charles; Christine Beatty (Kevin), Providence Village, Texas; and Jennifer Thompson (Geoffrey), Iowa; one son, Michael Mouton (Jana), Flower Mound, Texas; six grandchildren, Alex, Trevor, Tyler, Madison, Sam and Gavin; sister, Rose Ellen Barras (Wayne), Broussard; brother, Lt. Col. Clifford Mouton, Jr. (Rita), Parks, LA; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

 

Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday February 22 at Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will continue on Thursday at 10:00 AM, concluding with a funeral service at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Pastor Jerry Snider will officiate. Burial will follow at Prien Memorial Park.
