It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jerry Duanne Dartez, 55, who left this world to be with the Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, surrounded by his family following his battle with liver cancer. He was an amazing husband, wonderful father and grandfather, cherished son, loyal brother, and a true friend to many.
Born to Luke and Elizabeth Dartez in Lake Charles, LA on April 1, 1970. Jerry lived a life full of love, laughter, and hard work. He dedicated himself to his family as a provider rooted in resilience, strength, and community.
Jerry was a dad, husband, brother, and friend. He was a native of Westlake where he graduated from Westlake High School and he played football throughout his high school career. His picture can be found on the memorium wall at The Max restaurant located in the Westlake Golf Course. Throughout his career, he earned multiple professional certifications. He was an iron worker and rigger for 37 years, currently a dedicated, hard worker for Deep South Crane and Rigging.
He was known for his deep love of being outdoors-especially fishing and hunting. Music was the soundtrack of his life and could often be seen through singing out loud or dancing to any good song.
Jerry is survived by his beloved wife, Roxana “Roxie” Dyson Dartez; daughter, Ashley Taylor; his cherished grandson, Dallas Taylor; step sons, Sam and Charlie Nourrcier (Luisa); parents; brothers, Terry Dartez (April) and Paul Dartez; sister, Mary Dartez; and many extended family members and friends whose lives he touched.
To know him was to love him. He had a gift for making people feel welcomed, whether through a warm conversation, a shared laugh, or a perfectly seasoned crawfish boil. His legacy of hard work, kindness, and connections lives on in all who knew him.
A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 26, 2025, in the Johnson Funeral Home in Sulphur. Father Ben Lyons will officiate. Burial will be in Dartez Cemetery in Ragley, LA. Visitation will begin on Friday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Saturday from 9:00 AM until the start of the service.
