Lacassine – Jerry Dean Fontenot, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, born on February 7, 1953, passed away Thursday, January 4, 2024, surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 70.
A graduate of Lake Arthur High, Jerry was a graduate of McNeese State University. He taught math at South Cameron High, Hackberry, Barbe, and Hathaway. He attended St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Fenton with his wife of 50 years, Peggy Ardoin Fontenot.
Jerry was an excellent drum player and enjoyed spending time with his children, and grandchildren. He was very family oriented and looked forward to monthly dinners with his siblings.
He loved cheering for the LSU Tigers and was known to enjoy a round of golf.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Nelson and Verna Rose (Dubois) Fontenot, and sister, Diane Latiolas.
Survivors are his wife, Peggy Ardoin Fontenot; children, Jerrit Fontenot, and Misty Hardy; siblings, Lou Ayo, Clifford Courville, and Rolan Fontenot; grandchildren, Hunter Hardy and wife, Savannah, Haygen Hardy and fiancé, Sara Starr, Halleigh Hardy, and Kyleigh Fontenot; great-grandchildren, Waylon and Willow Hardy.
A gathering of friends and family will begin on Monday, January 8, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa. A celebration of Jerry’s life will begin at 4 p.m., with a rosary at 5:30 p.m., followed by a scripture service at 6 p.m. with Rev. Jom Joseph. Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa.
