It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jerry Eloi Hebert, who left us on May 9, 2026, at the age of 88. Born on May 19, 1937, in Lacassine, LA, Jerry was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He lived in Iowa, LA, where he filled his days with laughter, love, and a strong sense of family.
Jerry enjoyed a fulfilling career at an aluminum plant in the refinery industry, but his true passions extended beyond work. He was happily married to his wife, Linda, just shy of 60 wonderful years. Together, they built a life filled with cherished memories, which included Jerry's many hobbies. In his younger days, he loved to dance and embarked on countless fishing trips, always craving adventure.
He enjoyed gardening often engaging in friendly competitions with his brother Jessie over who could grow the most tomatoes. Jerry's garden became a place of joy, as he often welcomed friends and family to share in the abundance of his home-grown veggies. His love for horse racing and basketball kept his spirit young, and he always found time to visit with loved ones and enjoy their company.
Jerry is survived by his wife Linda Sonnier Hebert, his daughter, Vicki (Todd) Priola, and his son Jay Hebert, his granddaughters Kasey and Paige Priola, brother, Wayne Hebert, and brother-in-law Frank Lyons.
Visitation will begin on Tuesday, May 12, 2026 at 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm. A rosary will be held at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, May 12, 2026 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel of Iowa. On Wednesday May 13, 2026 a visitation will begin at 8:00 am until the time of the service at 10:00 am. Jerry will be laid to rest at Lacassine Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home of Iowa.
Jerry will be greatly missed but forever remembered for his kindness, humor, and family spirit.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Allen Hebert and Evelyn Hebert, his brothers, Jimmy Hebert and Jessie Hebert, his sister, Judy Lyons, his sister-in-laws, Verla Jane Hebert and Shirley Hebert and his niece Roxanne Hebert.
