Jesse “Ole School” Mercer, I, born in Abilene, Texas on January 14, 1960, passed away surrounded by his loving family in Kinder on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at the age of 64.
Jesse was a self-employed truck driver. He owned Ole’ School Mercer’s Trucking. His interests included selling produce, especially watermelons, collecting knives, listening to music and riding motorcycles.
He is preceded in death by his father, Orville Weldon Mercer; sons, Orian and Rennia Mercer; grandmother, Edith Mae Fruge; fur baby, Fantasia.
Survivors are his mother, Dolores Daigle and husband, R. J.; children, Jesseca Grice and husband, Travis, Trace Mercer and fiancé, Jarvis “JuJu” Ceasar, Jesse Mercer and partner, Kristen Teswood, Jackie Mercer and wife, Savanah Mercer; siblings, Bruce Mercer and wife, Julet, Elena Garvin, and husband Dean Garvin, and Pastor Dwayne Daigle and wife, Cindy Daigle; 17 grandchildren; godson, Shane Deshotel, and mother of his children, Margaret Rider.
Funeral services will be in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa on Friday, October 25, 2024, at 2 p.m. with Pastor Dwayne Daigle officiating. Burial will follow in Lacassine Cemetery under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa. Visitation will begin in the funeral home on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
