It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jessie Lee Hebert, a beloved son, brother, and friend, who left us on December 25, 2025, at the age of 91. Born on February 8, 1934, in Lacassine, Louisiana, Jessie lived a life filled with love, laughter, and a deep connection to his community.
A proud graduate of Lacassine High School, class of 1952, Jessie went on to serve his country in the United States Marines from 1952 to 1959, where he achieved the rank of Private First Class. After his service, he dedicated over 32 years to the U.S. Postal Service, diligently delivering mail along his rural route and making friends in every neighborhood he visited.
Jessie's roots were firmly planted in the community, and he was a devoted member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. He cherished his faith and found joy in the simple things in life-tending to his vegetable garden, especially nurturing his beloved tomatoes, and enjoying weekends filled with hunting and fishing. Jessie also had a passion for playing cards and was known for his storytelling, always bringing a smile to those who gathered around him.
Jessie is survived by his son, Kelly Hebert, and his brothers, Jerry Hebert (Linda) and Wayne Hebert. He also leaves behind three grandchildren, Jovan Foreman, Kandis Fontenot, and Kelsey Hebert; ten great-grandchildren and one great great grandson, who will carry on his legacy of kindness and humor.
Funeral services for Jessie will be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2025. A Rosary will take place at Johnson Funeral Home of Iowa at 12:00 PM, followed by a Mass at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church at 1:00 PM. Jessie will be laid to rest at Lacassine Cemetery.
He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure to know him. In his memory, let us carry forward the spirit of love and community that he embodied throughout his life.
Jessie was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Hebert; his parents, Allen and Evelyn Weber Hebert; his daughter, Roxanne Hebert; his siblings, James Hebert, and Judy Lyons.
