Jewell Clark Dore, 93, of Sulphur, LA, died at 2:15 PM on Monday, December 31, 2018 in a local care facility.
Mrs. Dore was born July 30, 1925 in Crowley, LA, and moved to Lake Charles, where she graduated from Marion High School. She later moved to Opelousas and Gonzales where she worked for Sears. In 1976 she moved to Sulphur and found her passion selling Avon. She was a member of Maplewood United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir and was active with the WMU’s. Mrs. Dore loved to cook, play Bingo, Dominoes, and Boo-Ray, but mostly loved visiting with people and spending time with her family.
Mrs. Dore is survived by her children, Brenda C. Brinkman and husband Gary of Raymond, MS, Wayne M. Dore and wife Dena of Lake Charles, and Virgil Wade Dore and wife Sandy of Longville, LA; eleven grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, James R. Clark, III, second husband, Virgil Wallace Dore; sons, James R. Clark, III and Joseph L. Clark; her parents, Joseph and Elizabeth Foreman Morgan; sisters, Valma Meaux and Ouida Ohlmeyer; and two infant brothers.
Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 4, 2019 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Andy Goff will officiate. Burial will follow in Prien Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM and continue on Friday from 9:00 AM until the start of the service.
