Jo Ellen Jordan

Jo Ellen Jordan, 89, of Lake Charles, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on July 26, 1936, in Rosepine, Louisiana, to William and Millie Rice Foshee, Jo Ellen lived a life marked by faith, love, and devotion. A faithful member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, she served joyfully, helping coordinate church gatherings alongside her beloved husband, Sanfred. Together, they poured their hearts into serving the Lord and their community.

Though she held various part-time jobs over the years, Jo Ellen’s greatest calling and passion was raising her four sons. She was an extraordinary wife, a devoted mother, and a proud “Granny” to nine grandchildren, all of whom were the delight of her life.

Jo Ellen will be remembered for her infectious laugh, her joy for life, and her remarkable kindness that touched everyone she met.

She is survived by her four sons, John Sanfred Jordan (Susan), Keith Allen Jordan, Timothy King Jordan (Mary), and Philip Clay Jordan (Drew); and her grandchildren, Stuart Jordan (Liz), Andrew Jordan (Chiffon), Amanda Bruns (Josh), Ellen Monroe (Stephen), Molly Linville (Eric), Cade Jordan, Kelly Stanford (Ryan), Tyler Anders (Tanner), and Kayla Thibodeaux (Kennie); and her twenty great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Sanfred A. Jordan; her parents; and her siblings, Mabel Schexenider, Mildred Hebert, Minnie Ruth Hall, and Bill Foshee.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 19, 2025, in the chapel of Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles, 4321 Lake Street. Burial will follow at 3:00 PM in Cooper Cemetery, Pickering, Louisiana, under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 9:00 AM until the start of the service.
