Joan Wood

Doris Joan Maddox Wood, 85, of Lake Charles, LA, died at 8:17 AM on Friday, March 3, 2017 in her residence.

Mrs. Wood was born April 27, 1931 in Chopin, LA and moved from Bunkie LA to Lake Charles in 1949. She worked in the real estate business and throughout her career worked for Wood Real Estate and Century 21. She was a member of Trinity Baptist church. Mrs. Wood loved to cook and eat, play Bourré, and loved sports. She also enjoyed bowling and was a past member of the Big Top League and she enjoyed bird watching.

Mrs. Wood is survived by her daughters, Rickey Ann Hines and Karen Louise Kaplan, both of Lake Charles; sons, Alfred Smith Mouton, Jr. of Lake Charles, David Joseph Mouton of Central Point, OR, Thomas Vernell Mouton and Charles Michael Mouton, both of Lake Charles; sister, Alice Thibodeaux; and brother, Ronnie Maddox; twenty-two grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Louis Wood; parents, Charles Edward and Rose Crysel Maddox; son, Jerold Wayne “Bo” Mouton; sisters, Dee Hanagriff and Wanda Gary; and brothers, Buzz Maddox, Earl Maddox, Adrian Maddox, and Willie Maddox.

Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Kelly Vigo will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and continue on Tuesday from 9:00 AM until the start of the service.
