JoAnn Tramonte Baker, 87, of Lake Charles passed away at 4:15 AM on Tuesday, March 24, 2026 in a local hospital.
Born on January 3, 1939, in Lake Charles, where she was a lifelong resident. She was a proud graduate of St. Charles Academy and later earned a business degree from Delta College.
She dedicated many years of service to the Calcasieu Parish School Board, working in the Welfare and Attendance Department until her retirement. Her commitment to helping others and supporting families in her community was a hallmark of her career.
A devoted member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, she was active in the Ladies Altar Society and participated in a social group for single ladies over 50, where she formed many lasting friendships.
She found her greatest joy in the time she spent with her nieces and nephews, loving them as if they were her own children. Affectionately known as "Grand Nanny," she held a special place in the hearts of her godchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Those left to cherish her memory are her siblings, Marie Tramonte Buntyn and Frank T. Tramonte (Phyllis); and numerous Godchildren, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert O. Baker; parents, Frank and Josephine Tramonte; siblings, Vito Joseph Tramonte, Billy Frank Tramonte, and Emma Rita Guidry; and her long time companion, Ralph Broussard.
