Joe Emmett Keeney, 80, of Lake Charles, LA, died peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at his residence.
Mr. Keeney was born in Ozark, NM on October 3, 1935, he lived in Lake Charles for more than twenty years. He served in the U.S. Navy and spent his professional career as a floor installer. He was a past member of the Moose Lodge and loved bowling, pool, dancing, and chess. Mr. Keeney was known as quiet, but happy and positive man.
Mr. Keeney is survived by his wife of sixteen years, Marguerite “Margie” Keeney of Lake Charles; two step sons, Raymond Myers and wife Karen of Phoenix, AZ, and Ronald Myers and wife Carol of Calagry, Alberta Canada; step grandchildren, Nikki Myers, David Myers, Kacie Gavenchuck and husband Bill, and Trevor Myers; and great grandchildren Victoria with another on the way.
The family would like to extend a special word of thanks to Albert “Lele” Lee Dugas for the care, support, and friendship he has given to Joe.
His funeral service will be at 3:00 PM on Saturday, January 16th at Johnson Funeral Home. Cremation will be entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home following the service. Visitation will begin at noon on Saturday until the start of the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or to the charity of ones choice.
