John Abel Goux, Jr.

John Abel Goux, Jr., 83, of Lake Charles died on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 in Clear Lake Regional Medical Center in Texas.

Mr. Goux was born in Bunkie, Louisiana to the parents of Maude and John Abel Goux on September 13, 1929. He has lived in Lake Charles for the past 60 years. John was a 1946 graduate of Bunkie High School. Mr. Goux was a graduate of Southern Louisiana Institute which is now University of Louisiana at Lafayette where he received a BA in Psychology. Mr. Goux served in the United States Army. John first worked for Davidson Sash and Door Inc. in Lake Charles then worked for Firestone. He then went to work for PPG as a Safety Training Instructor. Before retiring he went to work for Intrico, an outsourcing safety training company. Mr. Goux was a member of Glad Tidings Church in Lake Charles, where he was a bible teacher.

John is survived by one daughter, Mary White and her husband R. Bruce of Dickinson, Texas, four grandchildren: Sarah White, Rachel White, Joshua White, and Deborah Peace, eight great grandchildren: James Rodriguez, Helena Rodriguez, Breanna Rodriguez, Gabrielle Darnold, Damion Darnold, Zachary Peace, Alexander Peace, and Amelia Peace.

His funeral will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at 1:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Home. Rev. Gary Evers will officiate. Burial will be in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Friday at 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM and will continue on Saturday at 8:00 AM until the time of services.
