John Albert Manuel

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Albert Manuel, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who left us on February 6, 2026, at the age of 83. John was born on August 12, 1942, in Kinder, LA, and spent most of his life in Fenton, LA. 

A dedicated heavy equipment operator and foreman for Jeff Davis Parish, John was known for his hardworking spirit and commitment to his job. He was a man of practical wisdom and experience, always ready to lend a hand to those in need.John had a passion for life that shone through in everything he did. He loved horseback riding and cherished the memories created around bonfires, where laughter and stories were shared with family and friends. He enjoyed driving around, visiting with everyone he knew, and was often heard listening to his favorite French music.

John leaves behind his beloved daughter Monica Gotreaux (Glenn), his son Shannon Manuel (Michele Iguess), as well as his cherished grandchildren Garret Gotreaux (Crystal), Shaylan Pettijohn (Drake) and Davin Manuel. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Greyson Gotreaux and Myles Pettijohn. Additionally, John is survived by his brother Dwayne Manuel and his wife Helen. Also, numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate John's life. A public viewing will be held on Sunday, February 8, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Home of Iowa. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM that evening. The funeral service will take place on Monday, February 9, 2026, at 10:00 AM, also at Johnson Funeral Home of Iowa. Following the service, John will be laid to rest at LeBleu Cemetery.

John was a friend to many, and he will be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched. May his memory live on in our hearts.

John was preceded in death by his daughter, Delinda Matthias; his parents, Joseph Manuel, Ethel Langley Manuel; his siblings, James Manuel, and Patricia Castillo.
