Iowa ~ John Chris Breaux, 68, passed away Saturday, July 8, 2017 in his residence surrounded by his loving family.
John “Chris” was born in Lake Charles on June 18, 1949 to the late John & Hazel (Hargrove) Breaux. He was a longtime self-employed farmer, worked for Crane Brothers and was a rice and bean farmer for SweetLake Land & Oil for 26 years. He loved to hunt, play his accordion and above all, spend time with his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Jeanine Breaux Todd; great-granddaughter, Alexis Mercer; brother, David Breaux & sisters, George Ann Fontenot and Teresa Mount.
Left to cherish his wonderful memory are his wife of 49 years, Rose Ann (LaRocca) Breaux; daughters, Belinda Breaux Brashear (John), Carla Breaux Guillory (R.D.); sons, Brian “Dude” Breaux (Shannon), Chris Breaux (Heather); grandchildren, Casey & Kyle Mercer, Kade Brashear, Dustin & Samantha Guillory, Kaity & Luke Breaux, Jeanne-Claire & Jacque Breaux;
great-grandchildren, James & Avery Mercer, Kash, Kaselynn & Kounty Guillory & Jaxon Alleman; siblings, Russell Koonce (Nettie Sue), Rachelle Harper, Betty Breaux (sister-in-law), Melissa Duhon, Bonnie Thompson, Gaynell Chaisson (Darrell), & Patty Primeaux (Denny).
A Mass of Christian burial will be in St. Raphael Catholic Church, Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at 11 a.m. with Father Dismas Mauk officiating. Cremation will follow the service under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home ~ Iowa. Visitation is Tuesday in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. with a Cursillo Rosary at 7 p.m. and resumes Wednesday in the funeral home from 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Pallbearers assisting in his service are Casey & James Mercer, Dustin & Kash Guillory, Kyle Mercer, Kade Brashear, Luke Breaux, Jay Wilkinson, John Newman & Jimmy Nugent.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
