John Loney "JL" Duhon, 83, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 16, 1941, to Bessie Fontenot and John Adam Duhon.
John graduated from Grand Lake High School in 1959. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Following his service, he worked as a switchman on the railroad and retired from Union Pacific in 2002 after a long and dedicated career. A man of deep faith, John lived his life with devotion to God and his family. He had a lifelong love of music and dancing he even met his beloved wife at a dance. He found joy in fishing, especially with his wife, and treasured time spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Ella Mae Conner Duhon; his children, James Craig Duhon and Jennifer Gail Duhon; his grandchildren, Aaron Mitchell Duhon (Shawnta), Cavan James Duhon, and Hope Elizabeth Little (Brant); his great-grandchildren, Brooks James Duhon, Adaline Ella Duhon, and Grayson Lane Little; and his brother, David Larry Duhon.
John was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, George Elridge Duhon.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 29, 2025, at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church, with Father Wayne LeBleu and Monsignor James Gaddy officiating. Visitation will be held at Johnson Funeral Home on Sunday, September 28, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a rosary at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will resume on Monday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. John will be laid to rest at Consolata Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be; Aaron Duhon, Caven Duhon, David Paul Duhon, Jeff Irwin, Robert Fontenot and Charles Fontenot.
