John Kenneth Montie

September 8, 1935 — November 11, 2017

John Kenneth Montie, 82, passed away on November 11, 2017 in a local hospital.

 

He was a lifelong resident of Creole, LA. He was dedicated to his Catholic faith and was a fourth degree knight in the Knights of Columbus. He had many trades and it is said that there wasn’t anything that he would not try. He was loved and will be missed by many loved ones and friends. He was responsible for the rebuilding of the KC Hall in Creole, LA.

 

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Meredith Giles Montie; son, Mark Montie (Ellen); daughter, Pam Montie Tidwell (Tommy); Phyllis Montie (Jarine); grandchildren, Tanya Montie, Robbie Montie, Rusty Shawn Benson, Jacob Benson, and Cherie Tidwell; great grandchildren, Austin and Randy O’Neil Guillory, Zoey Montie, Brailyn Benson, Kinley Boudreaux, and Juliette Tidwell.

  

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Hun Montie and Rose Broussard Montie; sister, Mary Montie Theriot; daughter, Stephanie Montie Benson; granddaughter, Rushanda Nicole Benson; grandson, John Mark Montie (Bones); great grandson, John Kaiden Mark Tidwell; and Alice Faye Benson (Rusty Shawn’s late wife).

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Creole, Louisiana on Thursday November 16, 2017 at 2:30 PM. Father Fernandes will officiate. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Creole, LA under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at Johnson Funeral Home from 3 PM until 8 PM on Wednesday and will resume at the funeral home on Thursday from 8 AM until 1:30 PM. A rosary will be recited at the funeral home Wednesday at 6 PM.
