John D. Lanclos, of Iowa, born on August 5, 1942, son of the late Dorsey and Pamela (Robin) Lanclos, passed away on October 8, 2020, at the age of 78.
He attended M P Moss Elementary and Marion Middle High School. John joined the U. S. Army Reserves and was enlisted for 3 years. He was stationed at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri.
John loved to fish and hunt, but his joy was horse racing. He owned and trained Mr. Bingo Jet, his pride and joy.
John attended and was active in St. Raphael Catholic Church and was a Cursillo brother and relied strongly in his faith in the Lord.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Dorsey and Pamela Lanclos; mother of Michael & Carla, Patricia Thomason; brother, Harold Robin; sister-in-law, Melba; brothers-in-law, Bill Kerry; Robert Breaux and his mother & father-in-law, Gus & Vivian Breaux, whom he adored very much.
John is survived by his wife of 47 years, Gail Breaux Lanclos; son, Michael W. Lanclos (Daphne); daughters, Carla J. Lanclos Thibeaux (Byron, Sr.); Jody Lynn Lanclos; sisters, Betty Kerry; Mary Ann Folse; 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held in St. Genevieve Catholic Church, 417 E. Simcoe, Lafayette, LA on Thursday, October 15, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. Rev. Brian Taylor, Celebrant. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lafayette. Visitation will begin on Wednesday in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., with a Cursillo Rosary at 7 p.m.
