John Dore Langley

Rev. John Dore` Langley, faithful servant of the Lord, passed from this life on July 15, 2020, at the age of 86. John Dore` Langley was born January 26, 1934 in Basile, son of the late Columbus and Marceline (LeDoux) Langley.
Bro. Dore` graduated from Louisiana College in Pineville with a degree in Religious Studies. He faithfully served throughout the State of Louisiana for 60 + years planting many churches: Thornwell Baptist Mission, Pine Island Baptist, and 1st Baptist Church of Welsh and pastored Kaplan Baptist Church and Jenkins Memorial Baptist in St. Martinville. He formally retired, but kept on serving as interim pastor of: 1st Franklin Baptist, Calvary Baptist in Lafayette, Palestine Baptist in Grant, Woodlawn Baptist, Westwood Baptist in Westlake, Dry Creek Baptist Church and Cornerstone Baptist in Jennings.
He enjoyed gardening and visiting with his community.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Elinor Stozle Langley; son, David Langley of New Iberia, grandchild, Amber Langley (Brian Hoffpauir); great-grandchildren, Shylan Kay and Leland Dore` Hoffpauir; sister-in-law, Bonnie Langley. Bro. Dore` is preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Nora Dukes Langley; son, Carl Langley; twin brother, John Noah Langley; brothers, Harold & L. B. Langley; sister, Nora Langley; grandson, Carson Kade Broussard.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at 11 a.m. in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa. Dr. Andy Buckley will officiate. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa. Visitation is Tuesday from 8:30 a.m. until 9 p.m., with a Testimonial service from 6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home and will resume on Wednesday from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Dry Creek Baptist Camp, 8237 Highway 113, Dry Creek, LA 70637 or Acadian Baptist Center, 1202 Academy Drive, Eunice, LA 70535.
