John Pitman, 89, of Lake Charles, passed away Thursday, February 2, 2017 in the comfort of his home.
Mr. Pitman was born in Supply, Arkansas. He served in the US Army & US Air Force between 1945-1956. While in the Air Force, he met and married his darling wife of 63 years, Almalee Bordelon. He retired from Citgo Petroleum with 37 years of service. Following his retirement, he enjoyed participating in the local Ford Mustang Club, collecting coins, and being with family. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.
He had six children, Mark Pitman (Lwana), Sherrill Pitman, Kathleen Stutes (Chuck), Marianne Fellows (Buck), Laurie Kleckley (Chuck), and Jane Pitman, all of Lake Charles; eighteen grandchildren; thirty nine great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and one nephew, Bennie Dale Pitman (Muriel Joyce) of Jonesboro, AR.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Almalee Bordelon Pitman; his parents, Charles Amos Pitman and Minnie Lovina Vester; two sisters; grandson, Chad Foster and granddaughter, Dari Hinton.
Mr. Pitman’s family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to the nurses, Shervon Gray and Aaliyah Thomas, of Heart of Hospice, for their excellence in care and compassion for being so much more than caretakers.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 PM Saturday, February 4, 2017 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Steve James will officiate. Interment will follow in Prien Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation Saturday will be from 11:00 AM until the time of service in the funeral home.
