John Michael Rytkonen, 68, of Sulphur passed away Saturday July 25, 2020 in a local hospital.
Born in Cook, Minnesota, he has resided in Sulphur for 31 years. John served his country as a United States Air Force Veteran, retiring after 22 years with the rank of Master Sergeant. He enjoyed mowing his yard, taking great pride in its immaculate condition. John was a faithful donor to Life Share Blood Center and being an organ donor was his last gift of life.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Sara Rytkonen; an estranged daughter; brother, Terry Rytkonen of Florida; sister, Marie Halver of Arizona; sister -in-law, Mary Rytkonen; many nieces and nephews; and his faithful companions, Lady and Annie.
His is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Roy Rytkonen, Jr. And Dale Rytkonen; and a sister, Shirley Rytkonen.
A service celebrating John’s life will be 6 PM, Saturday, August 1, 2020 in Johnson & Robison Funeral Home of Sulphur. Visitation will be Saturday, 4 PM until time of service at 6 PM. Pastor Marcus Wade will officiate. On Monday, August 3, 2020 at 10 AM, his graveside service with full military honors will be held at the Southwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery of Jennings.
