John Nolan Loftin, 62, of Lake Charles, LA, died at 3:00 AM on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 in his residence.
John was born December 15, 1954 in Lake Charles, LA, where he was a lifelong resident. He was a 1972 graduate of LaGrange Senior High School and graduated from Sowela Technical School with his degree in Electronics. He worked as an electronic technician for Fornet's Television for three years and Lake Charles Music for twenty-six and a half years. Prior to John's stroke in 2004, every Hammond organ within a hundred mile radius of Lake Charles - north, south, east, or west- has John Loftin to thank for its musical life and his mastery of maintaining that instrument's phenomenal sound and quality performance. John grew up in the Baptist faith and loved music, his tools, good food (especially Greek/Lebanese), mathematics, birds, trains, and the Beatles. He will always be remembered as a brilliant, steadfast, patient/longsuffering, resilient, sweet man who loved his wife dearly.
John is survived by his wife, Charlotte Ruth Richardson Loftin of Lake Charles. Charlotte and John were married September 22, 1983 at First Baptist Church, DeQuincy on the eve of the Full Harvest moon, thirty-three years and ten months ago. He is also survived by his brother, Theodore Harold "Ted" Loftin, Jr., his wife Mary of Port Neches, TX, and their daughter Sarah; his sister, Jane Loftin LeBleu, her husband Lester of Topsy, LA and their children, Chad, Greg, and Brenda; his sister-in-law, Virginia Sue Richardson of DeQuincy, LA; and his precious canine grandbabies, Ellen Siobhan and Rudy Noah.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth Cooper and Theodore H. "Ted" Loftin, Sr.; his beloved aunts whom he cared for throughout the years; his mother and father-in-law, Bobbie and C R Richardson; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Cooper; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Loftin; and his canine babies and grandbabies - Louis, Jazz, Mitzi, Sugar, Emily, Two Socks, Jake, Mitchell, Trudy, Katie Fiona, Owen Wallace, JoeGrady, and Fritz Caleb.
Charlotte and John are grateful beyond measure to his doctors for their devoted care of him - Dr. Alan LeBato, Dr. Tony Leung, Dr. Christopher Thompson, Dr. Margaret Carter, Dr. Don Bravin (Lake Charles), Dr. Jon Schellack (Baton Rouge), and Dr. Nick Cronan (LCMH Outpatient Rehab) as well as the ladies at LCMH Cardiac Rehab, the nurses and staff at Fresenius Medical Care, the pharmaceutical staff at 12th Street Kroger Pharmacy, and Mize & Associates Speech Language and Learning Center.
John's memorial service is Monday, July 24, 2017 from 1:00 - 2:00 PM preceded by visitation from 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Home. Cremation was entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home.
