John Peter Scott, 92, of Lake Charles, LA, died at 9:46 PM on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at a hospital in Shenandoah, TX.
Mr. Scott was born July 21, 1928 in Milwaukee, WI and graduated from the University of Wisconsin at Madison with his degree in physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He served his country in the U.S. Army Medical Corp during World War II, serving one of those years in the occupation forces in Japan. From 1953-1997, he worked at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital as the Director of Physical Therapy, as he founded their Physical Therapy Department. Mr. Scott was a past member of Immaculate Conception Cathedral and was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, where he taught Sunday school. He was a member of the American Legion W. B. Williamson Post #1 and the Krewe du Bon Coeur and Krewe de Noblesse, where he was Duke in 1994. Following his retirement, he studied culinary art at Sowela Tech and traveled around the world.
Mr. Scott is survived by his daughters, Cynthia Scott, MD of Lake Charles, Melissa Franceschini of Katy, TX and Melanie Scott of Spring, TX; brother, Henry Mudlaff of Milwaukee, WI; and grandchildren, Ashley Ayres, Kelly FitzSimons, Sean FitzSimons, Christine Mocklin, and Kathleen Mocklin.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean C. Scott; sisters, Dorothy Krawczyk and Sylvia Sciano; and brother, Danny Mudlaff.
His funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, April 26, 2021 at Lake City Baptist Church, under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. (Masks will be required) Monsignor Jace Eskind will officiate. Burial will follow in Prien Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the church on Monday from 9:30 AM until the start of the service.
