John Edward Reams Jr.

Apr 29, 1952 — Jun 20, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Edward Reams Jr., a dedicated family man and friend to all, who left us on June 20, 2026, at the age of 74. Born on April 29, 1952, in Sacramento, California, John made his home in Reeves, Louisiana, where he touched the lives of many through his kindness and generosity.

John was the kind of guy who would drop everything to help others, never turning away from someone in need, even if it meant putting himself in a bind. He was genuinely dependable, always ready with a helping hand. Over the past year alone, he must have accompanied friends to a thousand doctor visits, just to sit by their side and offer support. He had a knack for caring for those around him, whether that meant maintaining a neighbor's property or taking care of their pets while they were away. He was also a huge Sports Fanatic. The 49'ers was his team and he never missed a game. Another one of John's passions was Golf, both playing and watching on TV. John also painted when he could and very much appreciated Art.

A true animal lover at heart, John shared his property with countless animals and cherished every moment spent with them. He was also known for his practical jokes and playful spirit.

Throughout his career, John worked as a cameraman at Delta Downs, capturing the excitement of horse racing, and in his later years, he was a familiar face at the Reeves Auction, always willing to lend a hand. He had a passion for the outdoors, enjoying fishing and hunting whenever he could.

John is survived by his children: Stacey Doucet (Samuel), Shanna Keeley (Clint), Sondra Reams, John Ray Reams (Holly), Johnny Reams (Bridgett), and David Estep; 15 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and his last living sister Kimberly Darbonne (Jack Starkey).

He is preceded in death by his parents John Edward Reams Sr. and Betty Landry; his brother Bill Reams, and sister Shirley Rhodes.

A funeral for John will be Friday June 26, 2026 at 1 PM at Johnson Funeral Home in Moss Bluff with burial at New Richie cemetery following the service. Visitation will begin at 11 AM on the same day.
