John Kevin Reece, 67, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 3, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Kevin was born on August 5, 1958, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, to John Paul and Mary Agnes Robicheaux Reece. He graduated from McNeese University with a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications.
Throughout his career, Kevin worked for Kansas City Southern Railroad, a local television station, and later as a teller at the Golden Nugget. He had a deep love for sports of all kinds, with a special passion for LSU. Kevin was also known as a great cook and an excellent barbecue pitmaster. He enjoyed duck hunting and took pride in preparing and cooking his harvest.
A devout member of St. Margaret Catholic Church, Kevin’s faith was an important part of his life.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving mother, Mary Agnes Robicheaux Reece; his siblings, Gregory Paul Reece and wife Kelley, Francis Tera DeLon, and Linda Anne Shuff; his brother-in-law, Thomas Allen; his nieces and nephews, John Alexander Reece and wife Melody, Kelley Lauren Reece, Cherie DeLon, Danielle DeLon, Brian Mark Reece, and Lance Shuff; and his great-nieces and great-nephews, James, Matthew, Natalie, Jace, Jaydon, Belle, Rebecca, Sarah, Dean, Joey, Maggie, and Mia.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Paul Reece, and his sister, Judy Gail Allen.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at St. Margaret Catholic Church. Visitation will be held at Johnson Funeral Home on Friday, May 8, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a rosary recited at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will resume on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at Johnson Funeral Home. Kevin will be laid to rest at Consolata Cemetery.
