John Samuel “Sammy” Fontenot, 60, of Sulphur, LA, died at 8:25 PM on Sunday, February 21, 2016 in a local hospital.
Mr. Fontenot was born July 1, 1955 in Lake Charles, LA and was a 1973 graduate of Lake Charles High School. He worked as a pipefitter and most recently as a security guard for ABM. He attended Faith Temple. Mr. Fontenot was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan and enjoyed watching TV and was very knowledgeable about actors and actresses. He was a kindhearted, giving person and never met a stranger.
Mr. Fontenot is survived by his wife of thirty-four years, Carolyn Fontenot; sons, Kyle Fontenot and wife Lea and Ryan Fontenot, all of Lake Charles; daughter that he loved as his own, Sheila Fontenot and her husband Wayne of LeBleu Settlement; sisters, Jonah Ardoin and Cathy Cormier and husband Carlton, all of Lake Charles; grandchildren, Rose Michelle Fontenot, Alyssa Newman, and Taylor Newman; and good friend, Raymond Webster of Lake Charles.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Rose Fontenot; and in-laws, Kermit and Wilma Doucet.
His memorial service will be held at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at Faith Temple. A gathering of family and friends will be at the church from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Cremation was entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home.
