Welsh – John Avery Trahan, Jr., born on February 3, 1938, passed away in a local care facility on Wednesday, February 09, 2022, at the age of 84.
John was of the catholic faith. He enjoyed gardening, western shows, wrestling and spending time with his family. John retired from Layne Water Well Service.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John Avery Trahan, Sr. and Rita Granger Trahan; mother of his children, Velma A. Trahan; son, Jeffery Trahan; brother, Nolan “Red” Trahan; and grandson, Bronson Hopson.
He is survived by his sons, Ricky Trahan (Gloria); Kenneth Trahan; Douglas Trahan; brother, Clifford Trahan (Lou); sisters, Katie Sonnier (Arthur); Mary Guillory; Helen Fontenot; Bonnie Studer; Diane Duplantis; grandchildren, Laci Hopson and Brandon Janise; great-grandchildren, Colton Hopson and Carter Janise.
Funeral services will be held in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at 10 a.m., with Father Roland Vaughn officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Friday in Johnson and Brown Funeral Home from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 6:30 p.m. and resume on Saturday from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m.
