Johnnie Junior Ellison, 84, of Westlake passed away at 6:33 PM, Wednesday, December 29, 2010 in a local hospital.


Mr. Ellison was a native of Greenville, MS and lived in the Lake Charles area for the past fifty years. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy during W. W. II serving in the South Pacific and also was a POW. Mr. Ellison was a retired conductor for Kansas City Southern Railroad. Mr. Ellison was a member of Westlake American Legion Post #407 and VFW Post #2130 in Lake Charles. He was an avid fisherman.


Survivors include one daughter, Virginia Waldmeier of Sulphur, LA; four sons, Rowland Ellison and wife In Suk of Oviedo, FL, Bruce Ellison of Castor, LA, Frederick Ellison and wife Sherry, and Keith Ellison all of DeRidder; fourteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren; his adoptive daughter, Roxann Miller; the mother of his children, Eunice Ellison of DeRidder; two brothers, Ray and Willie Ellison; three sisters, Marie Doris, Jeanette Nichols, and Mamie Rowles.


His Memorial Service will be at 4:00 PM, Tuesday, January 4, 2011 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Kenneth Adamson will officiate. A gathering of family and friends will be from 2:00 PM until time of service, Tuesday, in the funeral home. The body was cremated according to Mr. Ellison's wishes.
