Johnny Morvant

Johnny Morvant, 91, passed away on January 11, 2026, surrounded by his family. Johnny loved playing guitar for various nursing homes and senior centers with musician friends. He also loved planting in his garden.

Johnny is survived by his wife of 70 years, Merline Morvant; his children, Rethna Morvant, Clay Morvant and his wife, Tonya, and Shane Morvant and his wife, Pam; his grandchildren, Holly McGee, Jason McGee, DeWayne Morvant, Dylan Rowe, and Destiny Dyson; his great grandchildren, Emma Morvant, Autumn Morvant, Aiden McGee, William Morvant, Maxwell McGee, Rhys McGee, and Eliza Hargrave. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Abigail Morvant; his father, Edward Morvant; brothers, George Morvant, David Morvant, Marion Morvant and Dolan Morvant; and his sister, Eva Fontenot.

Services for Johnny will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at 10 AM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father Tim Goodly officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at Johnson Funeral Home of Sulphur, from 5-8 PM with a rosary prayed at 6 PM and on Thursday from 8 AM until time to leave for the church. Burial will follow at St. Lawrence Church cemetery in Eunice. LA.
