Jon Peter Clausen

Jon Peter Clausen, 81, of Lake Charles passed away at 6:52 PM on Tuesday, February 17, 2026 in a local care facility.

Born on May 29, 1944, in New Orleans, he was raised in Sulphur, where he graduated from Sulphur High School in 1962.

After high school, he moved to Morgan City, where he began his career in law enforcement as a police officer. His commitment to serving his country soon led him to join the United States Army as a military policeman. A proud Vietnam War veteran, he served with honor and courage, including during the Tet Offensive in Saigon in 1968.

In 1974, he settled in Lake Charles, where he continued a distinguished career in public service. From 1976 until his retirement in 2000, he served with the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office, fulfilling a multitude of roles and earning the respect of colleagues and community members alike. Following retirement, he remained active, working in security at St. Louis Catholic High School. From 2006 to 2016, he further served the community through Ward 3 Marshal's Office.

A devoted member of St. Margaret Catholic Church, he generously gave his time teaching CCD and providing security for his parish family.

He had a deep passion for fishing and found his greatest joy in the simple pleasures of life. Among his most treasured moments were those spent with his beloved wife, Nancy, at their camp on Bayou Black. He also delighted in watching old western shows.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Jon Carroll Clausen, Brenna Treland (Christer), and Patrick Bordelon (Cathryn); sister, Carol Lloyd-Williams (Harry); brother and caretaker, Roger Clausen (Lois); brother, Bill Clausen; mother of his children and caretaker, Sherry Bollotte Miller; grandchildren, Tad Nope (Skylar), Jonathan Gage Clausen, Gabrielle and Benjamin Treland, and Albion Bordelon; and his great grandchildren, Mac and Jack Nope.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Clausen and his parents, Dr. Carroll and Louise Clausen.

A funeral mass will be held at 12:30 PM on Thursday, February 26, 2026 at St. Margaret Catholic Church under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home in Lake Charles. Father Aubry Guilbeau will officiate. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM and continue until leaving for the church at 12:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 11:00 AM.
