Jonathan "Jon" Brassette, 78, of Lake Charles, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.
Jon was a wonderfully curious man with an engineer's mind and an inventor's heart. Fascinated by how the world worked, he even devoted time to studying the nature of time itself. He approached life with constant curiosity, creativity, and a deep appreciation for people. He faithfully served as a Eucharistic Minister to the homebound for many years, offering encouragement, companionship, and prayer to those in need. Jon was a natural conversationalist who truly loved meeting new people, making new friends, and helping those who needed help.
He met the love of his life, Dianna, at the USL bookstore when she "allegedly" sold him the wrong book. That small mistake turned into a lifetime of love after Jon asked her to attend a campus play with him. The two went on to build a beautiful life and family together for the past 58 years.
Jon was a family man who took his responsibilities as a husband and father to heart, doing whatever was necessary to provide and care for his family. He started Dry Air Service in the early 1980s and found great freedom to be a husband and a dad, as well as a successful businessman and provider. He leaves a tremendous legacy of love, faithfulness, and hard work.
Jon is survived by his devoted wife, Dianna Brassette; their children Laura Brassette Hampton (Bernard), Mark Brassette (Lesa), Richard Brassette (Amy), and Kevin Brassette (Meredith); twelve grandchildren, Matthew (Jenn), Mercy (Charlie), Drew, Modesty(Louis), Juliette (Joey), Trinity(Nick), Walker, William, Lucy, Camille, Jonas, and Graham; two great-grandchildren, Peach and Kitt, with three more on the way; and his sister, Edith Brassette.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Truitt and Mercedes Brassette, and his siblings, Duane Brassette and Phyllis Brassette.
The family wishes to thank the amazing staff and nurses at The Guardian. Their extraordinary compassion, joy, and care allowed us to truly celebrate and cherish our time with him in his final days.
A Memorial Service to honor Jon's life will be held on Friday, December 12, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. and continue until the start of the service.
