Joseph "Joe" Martin East

Joseph “Joe” Martin East, 78, passed away on December 22, 2018 in a local hospital.  Joe was raised and baptized in the Catholic faith.  He was captain of “The Christy” tug boat out of Hackberry, Louisiana for 48 years.  Joe enjoyed cooking, fishing, gardening and spending time outdoors. 

Joe is survived by his wife of 39 years, Barbara Simon East; 3 daughters, Sharon (Johnny) Jasek, Pam (Tommy) Washington and Beverly (Kenny) Fowler all of LaGrange, TX; 2 stepdaughters, Carol Hanks of Vinton, LA and Sherry (Edward) Mason of Sulphur, LA; 8 grandchildren, Joey Jasek, Andrew Washington, Robby Martin, Aaron East, Marty Fowler, Quaid Mason, Damaria Mason and D’Laysia Mason; 5 great grandchildren; 1 brother, Leroy “Pic” East; 1 sister, Russie Stelly; and a host of relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Alice Swire and Raymond East; 1 brother, Wilson “Red” East; 2 sisters, Alma Theriot and Margaret Bacque; and 1 grandson, Justin Jasek. 

Joe’s memorial service will be held on December 28, 2018 at 1PM at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home in Sulphur, Louisiana with Reverend Lionel J. Thierry, Sr., pastor of the Mossville Truth Tabernacle Pentecostal Church officiating.  The family will receive friends from 10 AM until the start of the service.
