Joseph Jacob Miller

Joseph Jacob Miller, born June 27, 1935 son of the late Reese and Irene (Augustine) Miller, passed away in the Veteran’s Home after a lengthy illness on Tuesday, August 3, 2021, at the age of 86.

Joseph was a graduate of Lacassine H.S. and was a member of St. Raphael Catholic Church. He was self-employed as a home builder and later went to commercial construction. Joseph was an avid Lacassine Cardinal basketball fan and was a gardener (always had a field of vegetables).
Joseph was a U.S. Marine and served in Korea, he was a life-time member of the VFW and served as a Quarter Master.

Joseph is survived by his son: William Malcolm “Bill” Miller; daughters: Frances Lynn Deshotel (Sidney); Karen Garcia (Mike); stepchildren: Robert Ernest Wills (Tesa); Margaret “Peggy” Wills; Connie Fontenot (Richard). Joseph has 4 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; 6 step grandchildren; and 15 step great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife: Ruby Lavergne Miller; and an infant son: Dean Joseph Miller.

Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at 10 a.m. in St. Raphael Catholic Church, Celebrant: Reverend Monsignor Harry B. Greig. Burial will follow in Lacassine Cemetery under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa. Visitation will be held in Johnson and Brown Funeral Home on Friday, August 6, 2021 from 5 pm till 8 pm, with a rosary at 6 pm. Visitation will continue Saturday from 8 am till 9:30 am in the funeral home.
