Joseph "Johnny" Myers

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joseph John Myers, affectionately known as Johnny, who left us on September 1, 2026, at the age of 81. Born on December 27, 1944, in Rayne, Louisiana, Johnny grew up with a deep sense of community and family, which stayed with him throughout his life.Johnny was a proud graduate, finishing his education at ParkView. He devoted many years of his life to his work in maintenance at Center Point Energy before transitioning to a rewarding role as a school crossing guard for the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Department, a position he enjoyed for ten years after retirement. As a faithful member of Grace Baptist Church, Johnny's life was guided by his faith and commitment to helping others. He was passionate about life-whether it was cooking up a storm at BBQs, camping under the stars, walking with his buddies at S.P.A.R., or simply enjoying time with his beloved dog. He leaves behind his daughter, Tona Myers, and stepdaughters Angie Anderson, Charlene Vaussine, and Paula Duke, as well as his brother, Jerry Bergeron (Susan), stepsister Ethel Bergeron, and nephews Jake, Coy, Zane, and Beau Bergeron. Johnny is preceded in death by his cherished wife, Betty Myers, and his parents, Oswald and Bertha Myers.To honor Johnny's life, we invite friends and family to join us for his funeral service at Johnson Funeral Home of Sulphur on September 12, 2026. There will be a public viewing starting at 10:00 AM. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, and we will proceed to his burial at Big Woods Cemetery in Vinton, Louisiana. Rev. Arvin Harrell will officiate. Johnny will be greatly missed, but his spirit and the memories we shared will live on in our hearts.
