It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joseph "Sonny" C. Marcantel, III, a loving husband, skilled carpenter, and devoted member of the community. Born on November 11, 1954, in Jennings, LA, Sonny lived a fulfilling life until he passed away on April 1, 2026, in Lake Charles, LA.
Sonny was proud to have spent 51 wonderful years married to his beloved wife, Doris Marcantel. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. He attended Kinder High School until the 12th grade; Sonny dedicated many years to his work as a control operator and carpenter with two different power plants.
A proud veteran of the United States Navy, he served his country with honor and distinction. When he wasn't working, Sonny could often be found enjoying his favorite pastimes fishing, and hunting. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Kinder, where he formed lasting friendships and found joy in his faith.
Sonny's family and friends invite you to come together to celebrate his life. A visitation will take place at Johnson Funeral Home of Iowa on Saturday, April 11, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. The funeral service will start at 11:00 AM, where we will honor the memory of this incredible man. He will be laid to rest at LeBleu Cemetery, Fenton, LA, at 12:30 PM.
Sonny leaves behind a legacy of love and craftsmanship that will continue to inspire all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of being part of his life.
Sonny was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Marcantel, Jr. and Ella Mae Taylor Marcantel; his grandparents, Nat Peloquin and Mabel Savant.
