Joyce Yvonne Richards Picard

Joyce Richards Picard, 81, of Iowa passed away Friday, January 26, 2024,
in the comfort of her home, surrounded by family and loved ones.

Married to her devoted husband, Ralph Fred Picard, for over 63 years,
they were the parents of Brian (Michelle) Picard of Waco, Texas, Rod
(Janet) Picard of Moss Bluff, and Kay Cole, also of Moss Bluff.

Joyce was a faithful member of Heritage Baptist Church in Lake Charles,
and enjoyed traveling, bowling, Pokeno, and sewing. A lot of babies
were blessed to be the recipients of her special blankets! She was a
fantastic cook and enjoyed sharing her culinary creations with family
and friends. As she passed from this life to a better one, Joyce’s
kindness, compassion, sense of humor, and downright spunk will be greatly
missed and remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing and
loving her.

Cherishing her memory are her husband, children, 10 grandchildren, 10
great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, sister-n-laws Annie
Richards and Caroline Richards; brothers-in-laws Paul Picard, Glenn
Picard and Jimmy Derks, and several “adopted by heart” children.
Waiting in Heaven to welcome her were her parents, James Morgan
Richards and Voneata Patrick Richards; brothers Ronald Richards,
Donald Richards, Doyle Richards; sister Gail Corkran; sisters-in-law
Priscilla Derks and Betty Lou Richards; son-in-law Clay Cole;
Grandchildren, Amy Picard, baby Glenn Picard; brothers-n-law Charlie
Abercrombie; and close cousin, Clark Abercrombie.

Pallbearers will be Brian Picard, Rod Picard, Ed Gradney, Don Picard,
Richard Corkran, Mike Hackley, and Carter Soileau.

The family extends a special thanks to the staff of St Joseph’s Hospice,
to Dr. Craig Greenman and nurse, Renee, and to all who have offered
their prayers, love and support to Joyce and her family. She will be
greatly missed.

Visitation for Joyce will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday January
30, 2024 at Johnson Brown Funeral Home of Iowa. Visitation will
resume at 8:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at
the funeral home. A memorial service will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the
funeral home, and interment will follow at Highland Memory Gardens
in Lake Charles.
