Joyce Lynell Williamson departed this life peacefully on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at the age of 87, surrounded by the family that was her greatest earthly treasure.
She was born on May 14, 1938, to Mitchell Harper and Della Cooley Harper in Dry Creek, Louisiana.
Joyce was a woman of rare grace who spent half a century making others feel beautiful as a dedicated hairdresser, operating Joyce's Beauty Shop from her home. Her own beauty, however, ran much deeper, rooted in a "servant's heart" and a steadfast faith in Jesus Christ. At Trinity Baptist Church, she was a faithful servant; at home, she was the matriarch and peacemaker, often using her gift for cooking to bring loved ones together.
While she found joy in her flower garden, her true passion came from nurturing her family. She was a constant presence at every milestone, cheering on her children and grandchildren with boundless love and unwavering devotion.
Joyce was as beautiful in spirit as she was in person. Known for her radiant smile and sincere kindness, she never met a stranger and left every room brighter than she found it. Her light will continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew her.
Joyce has completed her earthly journey and gone home to be with the Lord. She now rejoices in a heavenly reunion with those who preceded her in death, including her beloved parents and her siblings; J.G. Harper, Pauline Howell, Arthur Harper, and Gary Harper.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 63 years, Boyd Newton Williamson; children Michelle (Jack) Aumiller and Dr. Michael (Dawn) Williamson; grandchildren, Megan Aumiller (Ian) Gibson, Jackson Aumiller, Noah Williamson, Samuel Williamson, Jacob (Cammie) Daigle and Zachary (Maygan) Daigle; great-grandchildren, Addisyn Rose Gibson, Owen Gibson, Charlotte Daigle, Cohen Daigle, Kasen Daigle, and Westen Daigle; sister, Barbara Morgan; niece and "daughter of the heart," Dana Hebert; along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. A graveside service will follow at 3:30 p.m. at Sugartown Cemetery.
